Fine Lines

For years, I have loved to study architecure. Through its many forms, architecure is a prime example of how we express our creativity. One of the finest works to grace the Seattle skyline in the recent building frenzy, in my opinion, is Belltown’s Mosler Lofts. This post-modern structure breaks away from the clutter that stagnated the skyline with copycat work with bold lines and distinctive character. It sits near the Seattle Center so is noticeable from the Space Needle and, from where I took this shot, Fisher Plaza.

Absolutely my favorite residential building in Seattle. It’s also built very green, which is awesome.

The roof line in remeniscent of the Federal Courthouse downtown, but the big windows make it much less austere. Great shot!

It is good to see residential condos that are well designed and built. So often they are built as cheaply as possible since the building will be sold asap afer completion. The acquisition cost of materials is more important than the lifetime, performance and aesthetics. This was done by one of Seattles top archtiecture firms: “Mithun+architects+designer+planners”. I like the composition with the angular lines growing out of the trees. I like the b/w, but why not color?
