The Stranger has a nice feature on “views” — that is, the views out windows of Seattle homes. As someone who is sort of obsessed with views (we have a Space Needle and partial Elliot Bay view, but I’m not satisfied, and I’m looking at other places), I found it interesting.

The sheer quantity of views available in Seattle — thanks to the hills, ridges, bluffs, and so forth — is astonishing. This has to be the greatest view city in the United States, if not the world. We’ve got the Space Needle, the Puget Sound, Lake Washington, Lake Union, two mountain ranges, an enormous and stunning volcano, lots of small islands, some of the most impressive tress you’ll find in an urban environment, and two sparkling city skylines. You can sort of see why everyone thinks they ought to have a view of something cool from their living room.

Me? I want a sweeping Puget Sound/Olympic Mountains view. City views are nice, and so are the lakes, but I just want to watch those ferries and cruise ships go by my window all day.
