This is a story about young women who post photos of themselves performing silly, drunken acts like peeing on a waterfall or dancing on a table. Predictably, the old fart who wrote the story — as well as several who were interviewed for it — seems incredibly concerned that these young ladies are not thinking about the consequences of showing themselves in this state in public.

I, however, have a theory, which says there will actually be no consequences at all. Why? Because everybody is doing it.

I’m just realizing theory might be worth a blog post of its own, so I think I’ll stop there, and go into more details in a more fleshed out post in the future. :)

I guess it just depends. Like all behavior — it’s probably only worth worrying about if the behavior is excessive.

It’s probably also only a concern if that person hopes to be a politician or perhaps a member of law enforcement — or any government job with extensive background checks. Most any other job in the world would never know, and I’m pretty sure it would be harassment if a job found out after the fact and gave a girl a hard time for it.

I also think you’re exaggerating quite a lot by saying that “everybody” is doing it. Yes, the girls you befriended at K-State were picking up the slack for a lot of other girls — but I don’t think they were representative of everybody.

I think the real issue is the double standard of not pointing out that guys behave in the same way.

Sadly, just because “everyone is doing it” doesn’t make it good and/or right. Binge drinking amongst young people (man, that makes me sound old) is a serious problem here (UK) and I think we’ll reap the consequences in a couple of decades time.

Oh, and “go into more details in a more fleshed out post in the future. :) ” - pun intended?

To be clear: I’m not saying there are no consequences of drinking too much. Obviously, there. I’m suggesting the consequences of posting photos of your drunkness online is drastically overstated.
