With the rollout of the San Angelo Standard-Times (Texas) and Anderson Independent-Mail (South Carolina) papers, Scripps now has 11 of its papers running the Ellington CMS, which is based on the Django framework. I’m not quite sure what the total number of news and entertainment websites under Ellington is, but it’s go to be pushing 30 by now — which is about 25 more than this time last year, by my count.

Tiniest of tweaks to this post: Not all 11 brands we have running in Ellington are newspapers. Some, like BuffZone in Colorado, are niche products operated by a newspaper.
Maybe the better way to think of it is: we now have six local newspaper operating companies running 11 brands under Ellington. By this time next year, it’ll be 15 local companies running who-knows-how-many brands.
