Well, seems we’re a little late with the results of our first postcard design contest, but as you’ll see, we were pretty snowed under with entries. On top of sorting the submissions, we had to come up with the ideal way of displaying your work for maximum impact.

So, without further ado, the entries for the first ever ISDLAB Postcard Design Contest. The theme was the holidays…

Rest assured, we didn’t edit any out for quality.

Seriously though, thanks to those of you who took the time to send something. We were humbled and disappointed with the number of entries, but we’ll live. Thanksfully, what we lacked in numbers, we made up for in quality. Outside of Brian and myself, we got wonderful entries from Dave Shea and Laura Brunow.

We really didn’t know what to expect and we didn’t provide as much development time as we should have - not to mention any sort of prize as an incentive to enter (remember, there was no “winner” this first time around).

We’ll probably relax the submission requirements for future versions of the contest, though we may have a more tightly defined theme. We’d love to hear your suggestions for how to improve the contest, as well. So, if you’ve got any ideas, or any great prices to donate, lets us know: staff@isdlab.com

We’ll announce a new contest as early as possible, probably in January.

Thanks again to Dave and Laura for your great entries!

Looks like he didn’t enter, but Bennett Holzworth of Be A Design Group made some really cool letterpressed christmas cards. I got the snowman one in the mail today, and it really is cool. He even letterpressed the “family update” letter that he included with the card.

While I realize that you did post the “entires’ collection of entries, I’m pretty sure you meant to post the “entires” in their entirity.

At any rate, despite the minimal response, they look good together, good job with the posting.

There’s nothing worse than trying to lay down a grammatical smack-down and then making the exact same grammatical error by mistake.

I really wanted to make something, but given the time I had available it just didn’t happen. Maybe next time. All the entries looked great. I see Jeff did his normal typeface entry while others did all graphics. Great job!

    ….and nice smackdown :)

Jeff likes to hide the fact that he can’t draw by doing type really well. :)

And Brian — nice try. Pffft.

I should have also considered that Jeff would probably just fix the error he made (which he did) and leave mine. Bastard.

Oh well, there are plenty of other spelling errors in the post. (Blogging from work, I see.)

looks like i’ll have to make my “happy new years” card instead…
